Academy Local Applicant Scholarship

The Academy Local Applicant Scholarship has been established to assist students enrolled at the Academy who live within 100 miles of the college and have graduated from high school or who have earned their G.E.D. Applicants must participate in an essay competition and complete a 350-word essay on the subject assigned at the event. Essay competitions will be held quarterly and the dates for the competition will be posted on the Student Portal. Applicants must submit a completed scholarship application prior to participating in the essay competition.

The deadline for submission is April 1 for students entering in the Spring term, July 1 for entry into the Summer term, October 1 for entry into the Fall term, and January 1 for entry into the Winter term. Selection of scholarship winners are determined, collectively, by the Scholarship Review Committee based on assessment of the essay content and appropriate grammar and sentence structure. A total of five individual $2,000 scholarships will be awarded each quarter. The scholarship of $2,000 will be awarded in equal quarterly installments during the student’s first three quarters of attendance. The annual aggregate amount of the Academy Local Applicant Scholarship awards will not exceed $40,000.
