Florida Resident Scholarship for Interior Design and/or Graphic Design

The Florida Resident Scholarship for Interior Design and Graphic Design is designed to specifically assist State of Florida residents who demonstrate outstanding ability in the field of interior design or graphic design. Students will be selected to compete for a $2,000 scholarship toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design or a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design respectively based upon the following criteria:

Interior Design

Interior design scholarship applicants will be required to submit three to five pieces of work (photographs are acceptable) that demonstrate abilities in creative or applied arts, such as fine art work, ceramics, photography, drafting, or AutoCAD, or actual examples of interior work including, but not limited to, room design, furniture design, and/or murals.

Graphic Design

Graphic Design scholarship applicants will be required to submit a project in which they create an identity package for a major retailer incorporating a minimum of five elements or create a web site for an artist incorporating a minimum of five links. Projects may be submitted in any of the following formats: PC or MAC CD of digital files in native software or PDFs.

Applicants must also submit a completed scholarship application, a one-page essay detailing interest in their chosen career field and expressing why he/she is deserving of the award, and one letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, instructor, or employer. Scholarship applications may be obtained from the Office of Financial Aid or Office of Student Services at the Academy.

Completed applications and work samples must be submitted to the attention of the program Department Chair and received by the Academy no later than April 1. Submitted samples of work will not be returned to the student.

The scholarship of $2,000, awarded annually in each program, will be selected by a panel of staff and faculty and will be awarded in equal quarterly installments during the student’s first three quarters of attendance. Only one entry per student will be accepted.
