Theresa Schmitt
Department Chair, Digital Production and Digital Movie Production
Theresa Schmitt, Department Chair of the Digital Production and Digital Movie Production programs, has been working in the film and video industry for over ten years. Before moving to Tampa Bay in 2000, she worked with national and local conglomerates in Orlando, Florida, including MGM, Disney and ABC television. Theresa also brings 14 years of teaching experience with her into the classroom. She has taught at the Disney Institute as an Assistant Instructor, teaching guests how to produce live news broadcasts, edit video and shoot location news, as well as having instructed classes in set design and pre-production at Full Sail in Winter Park, Florida.
While working for ABC and Disney, Theresa worked on projects ranging from 'Good Morning America' to 'Roseanne' to Disney specials and made for television movies. Her various positions included Script Coordinator, Assistant Producer, Editor, Script Supervisor, Camera Assistant, Set Dresser, and Videographer.
As an instructor, Theresa has taught everything from advanced editing, compositing and special effects, scriptwriting, storyboarding, cinematography, set design and construction, art direction, live news broadcast, and field production.
Theresa graduated with honors from film school, earning a degree in Film and Video Production. Upon graduation she received awards for outstanding achievement in both video production and set design. She is currently pursuing a degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences with a focus on anthropology and sociology, her minor is in Mass Communications.
